Our Story

Our Mission Statement:

It shall be the purpose of this creative group to positively portray the talents of any individual willing to share; through constructive, organized functions, meetings and events, by utilizing traditional values that directly motivates & inspires the community.

IN THE BEGINNING

I-KAN (I Know A Name) was originally charted as a college based organization in 1995 by 3 young African American students.  I-KAN quickly became a much needed outlet for those individuals with talents and gifts to share.  As a collective effort, I-KAN sponsored creative events and functions that effectively met the needs of the students, community and audiences impacted.  The goal was simple:  Discover the "common ground" between different talents and develop a positive way to showcase these talents as a gift... i.e. (Poetry Slams, Dinner Theatre, Mentor Programs, Art Shows, Original Plays, Gospel Concerts and more...)

The co-founders soon disbursed throughout the USA (Washington-DC, Frankfort-KY, Seattle-WA) and continued their endeavor to find the "common ground" amongst people with talents.  However, the mid-west region proved to be the melting pot that had not been stirred in a long time.  The Creative Director of I-KAN received the "vision" to recreate the wheel with a different spin.  With the help of a few silent partners I-KAN is now functioning as a Creative Solutions Group geared towards creating, promoting, sponsoring & maintaining a level of excellence in ministry and outreach.  There is nothing impossible with that name!

You can find a full description of Mr. Taylor’s background and experience in the Arts at http://www.reverbnation.com/zftaylor. A Minister of the gospel and lover of the Arts, Luanda promotes and teaches that with God all things are possible. She believes that living the gospel is the best way to reach others, and that God gives us creative ways to do that through the Word, the Arts and through Servitude. Her desire is to use every gift she was given to enhance the Kingdom.
